Edited: 20 July 2012...
I have removed the photograph at the request of the family - if you can recall the image and happen to see it elsewhere e.g. Facebook, please do not share it and spread it even further.
The poem itself, although beautiful, was a fabrication and the details can be seen here.
How touching and heartbreaking. Totally in control of his wits and memory, to write such a poem. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI would appreciate it if you would remove the picture from this post. This is my grandfather with his great-grandaughter. It was a photo meant for friends and family, and was not intended to be used for your entertainment or personal gain. He is and was a dad, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and, more importantly, a kind and loving man who was loved by many. You did not have permission from the family to use this picture, therefore it needs to be removed.
ReplyDeleteHi April, thank you very much for taking the time to comment.
DeletePlease excuse my skepticism but I come across many internet trolls and this image is widely available on Google and has been circulated thousands of times, if not millions, on Facebook. Feel free to email me with further details and I will look into an alternative image.
I would like to point out, however, that I am not using it for personal gain, I am sharing a poem about respect and empathy. Although I do now realise that the story behind the poem has been fabricated as per http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/c/crabby-old-man.htm
