Wow, where does the time go? It doesn't feel like five minutes since I was writing my New Year blog post!
Both of my children are now another year older, and it's my sixth wedding anniversary soon - Valentines Day, awww! - but more crucially, my writing is going really well. Plus I've read some great YA paranormal books this past couple of weeks too. Happy Days :o)
So, back to the writing stuff...
My short story 'Abandoned' was posted to Woman's Weekly at the beginning of this week.
EEK!
They say to allow up to sixteen weeks so I don't expect to hear anything any time soon.
Work on my novella 'The Last Goodbye' has been fantastic this past week and I should have the first draft finished by the end of the weekend. It's getting incredible feedback from my ABC's (Aurelia's BETA & Critique group) and I'm really pleased with how it's coming together.
I recently came across Entangled Publishing and was having a read of their blog, when I spotted their 'call for submissions' for their Ever After digital range of novellas. So, instead of self-publishing 'The Last Goodbye' straight away, I've decided to try Entangled first.
It would be lovely to have my work evaulated by a well-reputed publisher and editing team, even if it ends with a rejection, but if they do like it... how much of a boost would that be? How fantastic would it be to have it published? At worst, they'll reject it and I'll self-publish anyway, so the only thing I'm losing is time.
Anyway, after several months of dabbling with plots and creating characters, I'm finally starting to believe I can make it as a writer. Let's just hope my finished work and sales prove me correct!
Wish me luck :o)
Thanks for stopping by my blog, Aurelia! Good luck with your submission to Entangled's Ever After line and Happy Valentine's Day :)
